Ginger bread in Russian style

Ginger bread usually appears on Christmas time, but Russian folk story about round bun knows every child whose parents or grandparents speak Russian. That is how we learn about wild animals, shapes and colours by using folk tale. Original tale is here
 and just watch this amazing cartoon here or here English version (I hope you will get the idea of story)!
Children play with animals, repeat words, and sing with round bun his song.

A Little red house....reading again

I love this amazing story, which my teacher in college shared with us. Now I found the story here, in Miss B's classroom and want to share with you the story and my experience.
I hide in by Basket- Suitcase all the characters: farm animals, little girl, and musical instruments.(The Story-noisemaker you can find somewhere in next post). Children had a musical instruments and guessed the sounds, which characters made. We had a lot of fun.
Suddenly, we start to talk about the town, full of red houses...Red, yellow or green! Do you know where that town is?



To create this wonderful orchard you will need:
10 little hands;
5 brown paper lunch bags;
5 sheets  of green tissue paper;
5 brown paper towel rolls
A lot red, yellow and green round stickers (we also used for older children crumpled tissue paper and glue with white glue)
Tonnes of news paper to stuff lunch bags.
And a lot of fun with ripping and  crumpling news paper!

How do animals share food

We continued to talk about upcoming winter and how animals survive through it.
If you look my post before here, you will find a story-noisemaker "Winter in the forest".
To help children better understand it I set up my harvest basket in this way:


"Hey! Look what I bring you today! This is my harvest basket with vegetables and fruits! But I here weird sound...did you?"
I used the same musical instruments as I used with children to tell the story "Winter in the forest"
And children heard that!!! They recognize the sound how squirrels cracked nuts and mice  nibbled (chomped) grain.
So, we look in the basket and find there 
Mouse, Rabbit (Bunny), Hedgehog, Squirrel.
Why they hiding there? Oh, yes! They are looking for the food!
Let's help them to find their food.
What does Bunny eat?
Carrot, Cabbage, Apple (sure!), 
What does Mouse eat?
Grain, maybe Carrot, maybe Pumpkin?
What does Hedgehog eat?
Apples, Apples!!!!
What does Squirrel eat?
Nuts and mushrooms!!!
We were jumping as a Bunnies, crawling as a Hedgehog, singing as a Mouse and knocking wooden sticks as a Squirrel!

Hello my dear friends!

Hello my dear friends!

Almost one year past since my last post. Sorry, I did not share anything with you but I am really need to tell you a lot! So, let's start new year with new post! I would like to introduce to you a wonderful poem of 

Michael Rosen - We're Going On A Bear Hunt



That was real bear hunt for me! Once I heard this poem in Child Care where I had a placement and never could find out who wrote this wonderful game! For my Russian friend - I found that there is a book called "Идем ловить медведя" but in fact it does not sound so good. In couple days through our play we created with my little friend a new poem - in Russian (if you want that just call me)! That was wonderful time for dramatic play and amazing literacy activity!
We learn a lot of new Russian words and....
Don't forget fine motor!We created amazing bears with coffee play-dough!

OMG!!!!!

Mammy and Daddy gonna love them! They smell so good!

A little round red house...

Do you know the story about little red house with no window, no door and chimney and with the little star inside?If you still did not read this story to your children it is time to do that!
Fall is time for harvest. It is the best time to explore with children any harvest things:

  • Explore corn and talk discuss with children Thanksgiving; they will enjoy tear leaves and make a doll with ! Do you have any idea how many rows has any corn cob?

  • Talk with children about pumpkin  and Halloween. Discover what  is inside the pumpkin, make a mosaic with coloured pumpkin seeds and pumpkin house for little mouse.

  • Discuss with children apple life cycle and play a puppet show with your soft toys about little red house...


Fall is a wonderful time when we can get from Mother Nature all her presents.... So, be thanks-full and tell your child to be respectful to Nature.
At the end of the class we were making a play dough apples. To make it easy for older children i made for them a card:

  1. Make a red play dough ball
  2. Make a smaller green play dough ball. Squeeze it from one side with fingers( make a drop) and make it flat. It will be a leaf
  3. Make 3-4 yellow very skinny sausages - stack it to red ball and flat it - for very young children - avoid this step.
  4. Make  brown small sausage - it will be stem.
  5. Make small brown ball - it will be place of flower.
  6. Connect all parts together.
  7. Dry it for a few days or bake it in oven 2-3 hours. 

Fall - is time for Harvest!

We're going to the camping early in the morning!

Pack your backpack, take the tent! We are going to the camping!
Where are we going to live there? We need to build the house, it called - tent!
What are we going to eat there? We will cook soup on the fire!
How we are going to find the road? We need to have a compass!
What are we going to do at the night? We will tell stories!
How we are going to survive in the forest? Oh.... it is a good question....
We learn about compass also. We had a lot of fun by trying turn the arrow!

Let see!


That is how we built the tent!


This is our fireplace and our soup. We put around the tray rocks and discuss  how many pieces of wood we need for our fire place, how long they are, which is longer, which is shorter.....
Next step - we discuss how can we cook the soup - what we use for soup - veggies or fruits, can we add ice cream or not and why? Tim told me that even we can use ice cream, we shouldn't put it with the can!!!!!
Open the can and poor it in the pot!

Everyone probably knows this song:

"Put ........(potato) in the pot, 
Stir it well,
Nice and hot,
We are cooking tasty soup,
For the dinner!

Ok , soup is ready, and it is time for stories around fire place! I choose my favourite: Froggy -Boaster, illustrated by Suteev.
This is very nice story about little Froggy who made a fun of his friend because they did not know how to swim....Finally they sail so fast, and left Froggy far away behind their boat!
So, we built the boat in the same way as friends did!



Do you hear this sound? Oh, no!!!!It is mosquito! Hide in tent!




It is night time! We need light!


We closed the door and were sitting quietly-quietly.....and listen to the sounds.....

We heard mosquito, rain, owl, grass hoper, wolf....Oh, that was scary!
And finally came our teacher Galia and call us to the craft table!
That was wonderful trip and we decided to make a lilly pad from the pond where our little friends build a boat. Look what we made:





Sure, we should make a little frog but that really was time for nap...

Nursery Rhymes

It was time to learn something more special about English Nursery rhymes!
I like this wonderful book"Mother Goose" with beautiful old fashion pictures

My favourite are"Peter-Peter", "Humpty-Dumpty" "Mary- Mary" and more others. This time was special rainy day.... 



Usually we read  the book by children choice, and children choose rhyme randomly and should guess what kind of Rhyme is that. Look on our picture and guess!







There were some more staff in our bag such as pumpkin, umbrella, flowers...
We decided to talk about rain, because that was hard rainy day !


That is how rain drops look like))

 Now we try to open umbrella...


...make a rainbow...


...and create our rain picture!!!!
Yes, there were some more activities and we really were having fun by making rain and wearing rain staff!

Конспект занятия по ознакомлению с окружающим миром в младшей группе «Весенние цветы»


В. Здравствуйте дети! Кто мне подскажет, что вы видели сегодня на улице?
А много снега на улице?
А куда снег пропал?
Мы Сейчас посмотрим картинки и сравним их. какие отличия вы видите?

А почему капелька с сосульки капает?
Почему лужа под снеговиком?
А почему на этой картинке мы не видим снега, травы, цветов?
Какой у нас сейчас сезон? Чем он характерен?
Вот у меня четыре карточки с временами года. Можете из назвать? Уложить по порядку?

А теперь я хочу проверить знаете ли вы признаки двух сезонов, которые меняют сейчас друг друга.
Я буду давать вам картинки а вы будете прикреплять их к нужному сезону по очереди.
Дидактическая игра с прищепками
И вот - последняя картинка - что это? А как эти цветы называются? А когда они цветут?
Это первые весенние цветы. Потом будет лето будет много цветов а пока вот эти цветы самые первые, поэтому из называют первоцветы
Дети рассматривают искусственные или настоящие цветы (Если есть такая возможность) Искусственные цветы у меня в коллекции из разных материалов - бумажные, фетровые, тканевые, деревянные. Важно что бы были очень похожи на настоящие. Называют цвета, учат названия цветов.
Поигрались?
А теперь мы будем играть в цветочный магазин!
Пластмассовые деньги, пальчиковые куклы "Цветы"
Пять миленьких цветочков,
В цветочном магазине

Дети их купили

В кармане с денежкой

В процессе игры я прошу у детей определенное количество монет за цветок, они должны отсчитать, дети постарше - делятся денежками если у кого-то не хватает. Количество цветов можно увеличить до нужного числа или просто повторить игру. У меня есть два сета - тот что на фото из разных цветов, мы обсуждаем, как цветы выглядят, что это за цветы и т. д.
А теперь я покажу вам что то очень удивительное. Вы знаете как растут цветы?
Некоторые цветы растут из семян, а некоторые из луковиц, да-да почти как лук!
Сейчас мы с вами посадим эту луковицу!
Что нам нужно для этого?
Земля, вода, горшок.
Дети по очереди насыпают ложкой землю в горшок, кладут луковицу, засыпают землей, поливают.
Учитель смотрит что бы дети были вежливы друг к другу, работали в порядке очереди, помогали друг-другу.
Ну вот мы и посадили наш цветок, мы будем за ним наблюдать как он будет расти. главное не забывать его поливать!
А мы с вами пойдем и поиграем в Веснянку!
Обычно мы играем в "Коровай" дети знают эту игру; мы немного изменяем атрибуты и играем опять. Сейчас у нас есть замечательный венок, который всем хочется померять. Так мы поем:
Весна пришла, коровай принесла!
и т. д На последних словах ребенок в центре выбирает следующего и надевает на него венок из весенних цветов.
Вот какие вы молодцы: и цветочек посадили и Весну позвали. А сейчас мы будем делать цветочную грядку.
