Soup for dolls

Today we cooked a soup for dolls. We were talking again about Harvest, crops, vegetables, which are growing in our garden, but at this time we were thinking that our doll who was helping her parents in the garden is hungry. Let's make a soup for Kathy!
First we were talking about vegetables - whose are ok for soup and why we can't put lemon or strawberry in soup? How we need to prepare veggies for soup - wash them cut in pieces and what we need for it - knives, boards...

Put vegetables in a pot and we need - ??? That was tricky)) children went to our drama centre to explore it and found that we need a stove!!!! and while our soup was cooking we went to dance, 

Oh.... We forgot something!

Our chief does not have a smack!!! let's help him to make it.

Children practising draw the lines from top to the bottom, but older tried to create pattern with colourful lines. Look how they look like now!

Breakfast for Cathy

We start to talk about time - children 2-3 years are aware about seasons, day night changes and routine during the day (hours).  We learn time on the clock easy - it is time when Mom coming - big arm on 12, small arm on 5. Parents are very good they always in time!
Today we talking why Cathy was late in school.
Alarm was ringing but Cathy was sleeping....
Wake up, Cathy!!!
1. Do exercises! (Morning gymnastic - children do exercises and properly breath)
2. Wash your face and teeth! (We explore artificial soap bar, discuss colour and shape, rub hands and sing "ABC"- song)
3. We brush our hair
4. Set up breakfast.
This part has a target give children understanding good manners at table and correct food choice.
We continue to learn colours, shapes and what we need for breakfast st the table.

Finally we created plate for Cathy with taste and healthy breakfast

Vegetable soup for dolls

Today we continue to learn about the Harvest. Guess what we cooking today?

 We used the song

Put the veggie in the pot,
Stir it well, nice and hot!
We are cooking, veggie's soup
For the dinner
Every child chooses one vegetable and drop it in the pot, mixing with the big spoon!
We had a small group of children so we choose only six vegetables.

We also were plying with our new toy - peas.

The pod made with felt fabric and actually for peas I used green pompoms of different size.

There is 5 pompoms, we can count small and big pompoms, describe size and colours

Now we can serve the table with dishes and spoons and feed our dolls!

About hungry caterpillar.

Everyone knows the book about hungry caterpillar by Eric Carl. Children always ready to listen when teachers are reading this wonderful book! Today we were talking about gardening and I decided to implement a story about hungry caterpillar in our lesson. The idea was taken from the video on YouTube(unfortunately I don't have a reference to it)
So we started with the wonderful bag, look what is in it!


We discussed with children where we can use it, why we need glows,  how garden fork different from regular one, and so many other questions, whose are related to gardening.
Some children told me that they don't have a backyard and we decided that they may have a little garden on the balcony in boxes with the soil.
We looked on the picture and described little house with the beautiful flowers around, discussed how we can grow up plants, what we need for it, and how seeds look like.

While older children were matching seeds with the picture of plant, little guys were shaking packages with seeds and listening how they sound!

I was surprised, that my children could match all seeds with the picture of plant. There were some very tricky seeds! But Daria told:"We have a little garden on our back yard and grow there watermelons, tomato, cucumbers and a lot of herbs.(I just remind that it is very good sensory activity, which I did before during my placements in CCC, but pictures disappeared - it is good point to repeat it)

 And now - Story Time!
You will need:

• Puppets SUN and Moon;
• One small caterpillar & one big(Actually enough one, but I used two);
• Piece of foil - to make a cocoon;
• Variation of plastic food - as much as you can. Make sure that you have enough for 5 days, for example - one strawberry, two cucumbers, three grapes, four oranges, five pears(I had three pears big and two small - so we could make a pattern) Other food doesn't matter - may be anything what you can find in your toy shelf or use natural fruits and veggies.
• Bid paper leaf with the "caterpillar egg";
• Butterfly

Just for example,

 I had much more, trust me children never tired to look what is coming next!

.You can start with the book by Eric Karl, but just for the beginning. If children familiar with this book they will help you to tell the story. During the story time reciprocate children to name and count day of the week, count fruits, name them, name colours, guess unknown fruits or vegetables, let them guess what inside the boxes(If you can open them and show what is inside), make a pattern with same fruits....

Can you continue my pattern? And finally, Saturday finished....and caterpillar went to sleep.... Wrap the Big caterpillar with the foil, put it on the floor and ask children guess what going to happen next?
If there is anybody who can help you and insensibly change your foil package for another one - with the butterfly that will be fantastic! So, you are opening package and WHAT DO YOU SEE INSIDE?

You done! Now just let them play with the toys and repeat this story again and again!

while children are playing with the toys I set up the table for art and craft. Today we have children 2 - 10 years old, so art class should be age appropriate!

Little children were decorating butterfly wings, bigger also were making a body with the sponge,(couple bodies I prepared before) For Alex who is 10 was different activity - he was making a sock puppet "Caterpillar". Just want to share with you fantastic place with huge diversity of activities for children different ages - Danielle's Place - Puppets found there!

Масленица (урок)

Сложно рассказывать русскоязычным канадским детям русские сказки или читать стихи....Вроде и разговаривают по русски, а нет-нет да и вместо "варенье" - "джем"...А что такое "варенье" уже обяснять приходится((.
Вот мой урок в русском детском саду так и прошел....И все же "Масленица"!!! Фото не много - не до фото было, выложу дидактические материалы, может кому понадобится?

Накануне я со своими первоклашками делала чучело Зимы...Сразу каждый мне сообщил, что никто ничего сжигать не будет - жалко, унесли домой)).
Поэтому назвали куклу Масленицей. Идея изготовления позаимствована у блога "Учимся играя"(здесь), а сегодня у меня был урок в детсаду, младшая группа.
Вот здесь мы и отпраздновали Масленицу с Машиной "Машиной" куклой, которую она мне на день одолжила)) Фото просто не успевала делать а план урока и дидактичрские материалы выкладываю, может кому понадобятся в будущем))

Широкая Масленица – Сырная неделя!

Ты пришла нарядная к нам Весну встречать.

Печь блины и развлекаться будем всю неделю,

Чтоб Зиму студёную из дому прогнать!

Сегодня я пришла не одна я пришла с моей пр ятельницей - знаете к о это? Это Масленица!плсмотримо рите на картинки -с о вы видите? Чем они отличаются? На какой картинке вы видите зиму? Лето? Весну? После зимы всегда приходит весна, это замечательное время когда оживает природа после долгого зимнего сна, появляются из под снега первые цветы, их так и называют - первоцветы. Это подснежники, прострел, крокусы, а потом тюльпаны нарциссы. Приход весны вызывал такую радость у людей что они праздновали окончание зимы и наступление весны и называли это время Масленица. В течение этой недели люди ходили друг к другу в гости и главным угощением были блины - желтые и круглые как солнышко. Блины ели с медом, с варенье. c маслом

из чего варенье делают?

Какие ягоды и фрукты вы знаете?

Почему варенье вареньем называют?

Откуда мед берется?

Кто мед больше всего любит?

кто приносит нам сметану?

Масло?

Откуда берется сметана и масло?

Пальчиковая игра 

ладушки ладушки поехали к бабушке

жарили оладушки

ели спозаранку

с маслом и сметанкой

с медом и вареньем

знатным угощеньем

и гостей встречали

Чаем угощали

Потом, как положено "каравай" водили, вот так:

Весна пришла,

Каравай принесла,

Вот такой вышины.....

И на голову караваю венок из весенних цветов одевали... Ой как мы этот венок любим!!!!!

А потом из соленого желтого теста пошли блины лепить - папе с мамой принести!

Еще должны были погремушками и бубном музицировать, но времени не хватило...оставим на следующий раз!

K сожаленью не удалось выложить  файл поэтому только фото, думаю сделать карточки самим труда не составит))
Для игры "Испеки блин" использовали пластмассовую сковородку и лопатку, пробовали подрасывать блин на сковородке, снимать с помощью лопатки и класть на тарелочку, ну вобщем на фото видно - игра имела бешенный успех! А еще мы использовали три блина - фотокопии наклеенные на картон и сенсорные круги Монтессори - красные с "вареньем", желтые с "медом". Мое наблюдение (уже более 20 лет со мной) ну сложно детям с этими миниатюрными пластмассовыми ложками, сковородками и кастрюльками. А использую или игрушки в натуральную величину или настоющую посуду малого размера. Кстати и в реальной жизни дети учатся обращаться с посудой за столом гораздо быстрее, у меня в саду за обедом 2,5-4 практическу всю еду сервируют сами. Ну, не без аварий, конечно))
